Today, on Memorial Day, we take a moment to honor the service members who gave their lives for our country, along with the veterans and military families who continue to carry that impact every day.

At Retrieving Independence, we work with veterans whose strength and resilience show up in everyday life. We also see how complex coming home can be. Many veterans live with physical disabilities, PTSD, medical conditions, or other changes that make daily tasks more difficult.

We are sharing today that scholarship opportunities are available for veterans applying for a service dog through our program.

A service dog partnership looks different for each person. For some, it means support during medical episodes or mobility-related tasks. For others, it means greater ease leaving the house, improved rest at night, or more independence in daily routines. These partnerships are deeply personal and often life-changing.

Finances should not be a barrier to that support. Our veteran scholarships help make trained service dogs more accessible to those who have served our country. We are grateful to the generous donors who have made two full service dog scholarships available for veterans.

If you or someone you know is interested in applying, learn more about our programs and application process on our “Become a Client” page: Apply for a Service Dog

(Please note veteran status in the application so our team can review eligibility for the scholarship opportunity.)

This Memorial Day, we remember those we have lost and honor the sacrifices made by so many. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve veterans in return.
