Cruising the Extra Mile: Mike’s Pedal for Paws Adventure
Retirement for many is a time to relax. For some, perhaps savor the quiet moments on the porch. But for our cherished volunteer, Michael Hynes, retirement marks the beginning of a thrilling journey – a cross-country bike ride with a purpose. As we bid farewell to Mike’s long and illustrious career, he’s trading his office chair for a bike seat. March 1st marked Mike’s start on a 45-day cycling adventure across the Southern Tier of the United States. Read more and support Mike’s Pedal for Paws below!
The Mission: Pedaling for Paws and Independence
Pedaling for Paws: Ed McCaffrey – A Local Hero in Focus
Mike’s journey goes beyond the thrill of cycling; it’s about infusing “love, dignity, and change” into every mile. The campaign aims to raise funds to sponsor Ed McCaffrey, a local hero and a friend to many. Ed has selflessly served his community in various ways, from providing labor-free roofs to underpriced remodels. Now, it’s our turn to show Ed the kindness and love he’s always shown us.
Pedaling for Paws: Supporting Our Veterans – A Worthy Cause
In addition to Ed’s sponsorship, the campaign extends its reach to support military veterans seeking the therapeutic companionship of service dogs. Mike and Retrieving Independence recognize the sacrifice and dedication of our veterans and their families. The funds raised will contribute to placing fully trained service dogs with veterans at reduced or no cost – a profound act of “love, dignity, and change.”
