A Journey with the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation

Here at our organization, we are committed to ensuring that each of our dogs finds their unique purpose and fulfills it in a way that best suits their talents. Not every pup is destined to be a service dog, and that’s perfectly okay. Some dogs, like Malia, discover their true calling in other areas where they can excel and make a difference.

Partnering with the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation

A few months ago, Malia joined the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (NDSDF) based in California, a partnership that aligns her lively spirit and boundless energy with critical disaster response training. We recently received an encouraging update from her team:

“Malia is sunshine inside a dog! Her cheerful personality and signature body wiggle will surely put anyone in a good mood. Don’t let her fool you, though; she is one intense working dog. She has progressed to searching large barrel fields and has had extensive victim generalization. Malia is tightening up her alert before moving to rubble. The rest of her day consists of plenty of toy play, fitness, introductions to elements, and long naps on her favorite blankets. We are honored to be a part of this special girl’s journey.”

Finding the Right Path

Malia’s journey is a testament to our commitment to matching each dog with the right organization and role. By partnering with groups like NDSDF, we ensure that every pup thrives in an environment that matches their talents, personalities, and energy levels. Not every dog is suited for service work, and that’s why we explore alternative opportunities where their unique abilities can shine.

A Bright Future Ahead

It’s clear that Malia’s bright, sunny personality continues to shine in her new role, and we couldn’t be prouder. Her progress with NDSDF demonstrates just how versatile and driven she is. We’re honored to see her flourish, and we know that she’ll continue to be a vital part of the NDSDF team for years to come.

We’ll continue to root for her as she moves forward, training tirelessly to one day help save lives in disaster situations. Go, Malia!
